Marina Murvanidze Mitchell

I am a London based Georgian American artist. Inspired by a curiosity about people, space, and movement, particularly by people who choose to live outside their country of origin, I explore the ambiguity of unknown places and experiences through constructed images using photography and painting as my main media. My work is process-oriented. I use photography as my initial medium and then extend it through merging with painting digitally. I often welcome the chance to play a role in it, generating a mystery. I try to inspire imagination, causing viewers to be as Bridget Riley once said, “in the state of receptive participation.”
